Our client came to us with a contract. They were to be the executive show producers for a new to Canada television. Their only problem is they did not have a home. We participated in the feasibility of new home vs studio set and came up with the alternative to build a temporary set in a warehouse environment. The client hired a set designer and we worked with the designer to merge standard wood frame construction techniques to set specific designs. We developed the construction drawings for the set, assisted the client with hiring the construction trades required to build the house shell. We developed the project schedule and the overall construction budget. We assisted the client with gaining the required approvals from the local Fire Marshall and the building and zoning department. The project included coordination with set finishers, special show requirements, security features, filming requirements and specialized air conditioning requirements. We hired and directed the work of electrical, mechanical and structural engineers. The entire 15,000 sf set was constructed in just over five months.
